How old do I need to be to volunteer?

Volunteers aged 13 and up are welcome! Those under 18 may need parental consent for certain activities.

How many hours do I need to become a volunteer?

If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you need a total of 7 hours to become a volunteer.

How long do I need to commit for?

We ask volunteers to commit for at least one full cycle (one year). Of course, you're more than welcome to stay on longer!

Is there a cost to participate in programs?

No! All of our programs are completely free for participants. We believe every child deserves access to literacy support regardless of financial situation.

How are Reading Buddies matched with children?

We carefully match volunteers with children based on availability, interests, and reading level to ensure the best possible learning experience.

What kind of training do volunteers receive?

All Reading Buddy volunteers receive training on effective reading strategies, working with children, and our program guidelines before being matched.
